ELIJAH DAVIS

Elijah Davis, 80, of the 700 block of Providence Road, died April 23, 1997, in Bayside Hospital, Virginia Beach.

Born in Spring Hope, N.C., he was the widower of Nicey Davis and a member of Saint Mark Holiness, Norfolk. He was a truck driver for Guille Steel Co., retiring 17 years ago with 25 years service.

Survivors include seven daughters, Rosa Cason, Hattie Keeling, Betty Keeling and Shirley Nash, all of Norfolk, Mary Britt of Chesapeake, Doretha Moore of Virginia Beach and Marjorie Davis of Valdosta, Ga.; eight sons, Jerry Davis, Daniel Davis, Arthur Davis, all of Norfolk, Ernest Davis, Robert Davis, both of Virginia Beach, Johnnie Davis, Elijah Davis Jr., both of Chesapeake, Minister James Davis of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Etta Bell Lindsay and Maggie Sneed; 53 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Hattie Davis and Eddie Davis.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in Way of Truth C.O.G.I.C., 2322 Maltby Ave., Norfolk, by Elder Wilbert McNair. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake.
