JOSEPHINE C. LEE

Josephine Cannon Lee, 85, of the 7700 block of Dunfield Place died Monday, April 28, 1997, in a local hospital.

She retired after 53 years with Chesapeake Savings and Loan Association, having served as their senior and executive vice president, secretary and treasurer and a member of the board of directors during her career. She was the only woman in the Tidewater area to serve on a savings and loan board during this time. She was born in Norfolk, daughter of the late Elizabeth Duncan and Edward J. Cannon, and was the widow of Elroy ``Juicy'' C. Lee. She was a member of Park Place Baptist Church, the Soroptimist Club of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Norfolk-Virginia Beach Executives Club, Norfolk Yacht and Country Club and the Norfolk Woman's Club.

Survivors include two nephews, James L. Jones Jr. of Lexington, Va., and Haughton Lee of Arlington, Va.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 1997, in Elmwood Cemetery by Dr. Paul B. Watlington Jr. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday night from 7 to 8 p.m. for visitation. Cox Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
