Kaethe Piepenhagen, 87, of the 9500 block of Sherwood Place died April 27, 1997, in a local hospital.
A native of Schoenau, Germany, she was a babysitter for 25 years in Williamsburg, where she was known as ``Grandma Sunshine.''
Survivors include her four sons, Ulrich Piepenhagen of Norfolk, Hans-Christian Piepenhagen of Mercer, Pa., Thomas Piepenhagen of Rocky Mount, Va., and Frank Piepenhagen of Northern Virginia; sister, Johanna Guenzel of Berlin; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Williamsburg Memorial Park by the Rev. Robert M. Miller. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
