HOWARD HATHAWAY III

Howard Hathaway III, 74, of the 3000 block of Sterling Point Drive, died April 28, 1997.

He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as an equipment specialist in the supply division. He was a member of Churchland Baptist Church, past president of Merrimac Kiwanis Club, served on the board of directors for the Portsmouth Crime Line, a 50-year member of Churchland Masonic Lodge (NU)276, Mount Horeb Royal Arch Chapter (NU)11 and Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies. A native of Churchland, he also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Williams Hathaway; two sisters, Ruth H. Garrison of Portsmouth and Joyce H. Jordan of Suffolk.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. Services and burial will be at a later date. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
