DAVID G. BRINKLEY SR.

David Garland Brinkley Sr., 83, of Cabot Avenue died April 30, 1997, in a local hospital.

A retired production control supervisor at the Naval Air Rework Facility at the Naval Air Station, he worked there 30 years. A Corapeake, N.C., native, he was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Modlin Brinkley; two daughters, Beth Carnal and her husband, Jim Carnal, of Adams, Tenn. and Barbara Lambert and her husband, Jim Lambert, of Virginia Beach; son, David Garland Brinkley Jr. and his wife, Diane Brinkley of Zuni, Va.; sister, Mildred Sharpe of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, David G. Brinkley III of Windsor, Va., Eric Lambert of Richmond, Duane Brinkley of Southampton County, Kelly Simerson of Virginia Beach; two great-grandchildren, Brandii Brinkley of Windsor, Joshua Simerson of Virginia Beach; and niece, Mattie Sharpe of Portsmouth.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Paul D. Moore. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
