MARY R. CHAPPELL

Mary Ruth Chappell, 71, devoted and loving mother and grandmother, died Wednesday, April 30, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mrs. Chappell was a native of Parish, Ala., and was retired from Giant Open Air/Farm Fresh market. She was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Chappell is survived by three daughters, Sandra Hinkle and her husband, Marvin Jr. of Suffolk, Paige Smith of Chesapeake, and a daughter in New York; a son, Benjamin Hale Jr. of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two sisters, Audrey Thompson of Charlottesville, Va., and Edna Sue Perry of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Edsal Chappell and his wife, Marie, of Portsmouth, and Donald Chappell of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Bessie Chappell, and two sisters, Bonnie Buchanan and Peggy Crabtree.

She was young in heart and touched the lives of those with whom she came in contact.

Services will be conducted privately, for family members only, by the Rev. Billy Ray Boyd. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Haven Children's Home. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
