MONA E. DRIVER

Mona Eby Driver, 41, an inspiring angel, went home to be with her Lord, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, on May 1, 1997.

A native of Fresno, Calif., she was a member of Oakland Christian Church and the Mark Burns Sunday School Class, and was a drafting and design student of TCC, Portsmouth Campus. Mona was a board member of the American Cancer Society and an oncology volunteer for Obici Hospital.

She is survived by her courageous son, John Lewis Driver; her father and mother, Duane Curtis and Donna Hoff Eby; and her sister, Kimberly Eby, all of Suffolk; her brothers, Gregory and his wife, Barbara Eby, of Newport News, and Randall Eby of Oxford, N.C.; her nephew, Andrew Eby of Suffolk; her niece, Caroline Eby of Newport News; her maternal grandmother, Ruth Sharp of Fresno, Calif.; and countless ``friends of Mona.''

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Oakland Christian Church by the Rev. Mark Burns, with a reception in the fellowship hall of the church following the service. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and at other times at 1415 Planters Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oncology Care Fund, Obici Hospital, 1900 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434 or the American Cancer Society, 902 Pennsylvania Ave., Suffolk, Va. 23434.

Her family extends special appreciation to all who supported Mona and her family in her fight against cancer. She will remain an inspiration to all she touched. ILLUSTRATION: Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
