Henry Alvin Rawles Sr., 104, of the 200 block of Military Road, died May 1, 1997.
A native of Nansemond County, he was a son of the late Julius T. and Mary Dixon Holland Rawles and widower of Virginia Browne Riddick Rawles. He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church, its men's Bible Class and the Suffolk Nansemond Historical Society, and was a 70-year member of the American Legion. Mr. Rawles retired in 1963 from the former Suffolk Peanut Co. after 50 years of service.
He is survived by his son, Henry A. Rawles Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery by Dr. Michael D. Halley. The family will receive friends in R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
