Ollen ``Red'' Hedgepeth, 73, of the 800 block of Brinson Lane, died May 2, 1997.
He was a native of Nash County, N.C., and had retired in 1992 from Estes Express Lines, where he served 42 years as a rate clerk. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Tiger Brigade in Europe and was a recipient of a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of Old Donation Episcopal Church, Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 20, and American Legion Post No. 0141.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia L. Hedgepeth; two daughters, Gloria Jean Brown and Helen Lenore Wiles, both of Virginia Beach; two sons, Joseph Thomas Hedgepeth Sr. of Norfolk and James Earl Hedgepeth of Killeen, Texas; a sister, Christine Batts of Rocky Mount, N.C.; four granddaughters, Eva Dawn, Lisa Ann, Stephanie Marie and Alexandria Zoe; four grandsons, Anthony Peter, Travis William, Joseph Thomas Jr. and John Allen Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Old Donation Episcopal Church by the Rev. Joy E. Walton. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 to 6 p.m. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
