Joseph Anthony Cannizzaro, 63, of the 3500 block of Carter Road died May 3, 1997.
Mr. Cannizzaro, a native of the Bronx, N.Y., had retired from Hoescht-Celanese as a senior project engineer after 33 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Portsmouth, an avid golfer and a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, where he was a radioman.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita A. Cannizzaro; two sons, Steven V. Cannizzaro of Norfolk, Frank E. Cannizzaro and his wife, Brigitte, of Atlanta; mother, Rose Carde Cannizzaro of Staten Island, N.Y.; two brothers, Salvatore Cannizzaro of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Enrico Cannizzaro of Staten Island. He was predeceased by his father, Vincent Cannizzaro Sr., and a brother, Vincent Cannizzaro Jr.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Catholic Church by Fr. Joseph S. Slowik. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, where the family will remain until 8 p.m. to receive friends.
