Residents raced to the podium at the Suffolk City Council meeting Wednesday night for their opportunity to ask for community development funding.
More than 20 residents pleaded for portions of the $765,000 in federal funding that the city receives annually to help revitalize needy communities.
The council will make a decision on the grants at its May 21 meeting.
Requests included everything from fixing up neighborhoods like Orlando and Huntersville to giving money to non-profit organizations that have programs which strive to uplift and teach children.
