Harvey Gaston Newbern, 70, of the 600 block of Kellam Road, died May 8, 1997, in a local hospital.
Mr. Newbern was a native of Bertie County, N.C.
He is survived by three sisters, Lorine N. Smith of Virginia Beach, Thelma N. Bray of Norfolk, Nettie J. Lock of Chesapeake; a stepson, Randy Hale of Alabama; several nieces and nephews; and two step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel. A chapel service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home by the Rev. Benny Hampton. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
