RUSSIANS REMEMBER AMERICAN WAR DEAD

ILLUSTRATION: Marking the 52nd anniversary of the Allied victory

over Nazi Germany, about 20 Russian and Ukrainian World War II

veterans gathered in Norfolk's Forest Lawn Cemetery Friday to lay

flowers at a monument honoring America's war dead. Led by decorated

Red Army veteran Yuryi Odinov, above, the Russians - part of an

enclave in the Wards Corner neighborhood - saluted the role American

soldiers played in defeating Hitler and aiding the former Soviet

Union.
