IRMA C. HOPKINS

Irma Louise Coppersmith Hopkins, 78, of the 700 block of South Street, died Friday, May 9, 1997, in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

Mrs. Hopkins was a native of Weeksville, N.C. and attended Duke University. She was a member of the Ahoskie United Methodist Church and was a retired bookkeeper for Atlantic Discount Corp. and Coastal Finance Corp. Mrs. Hopkins was the daughter of the late Elisha Coppersmith and the late Mrs. Attie Meads Coppersmith. She was also predeceased by her brother, Elisha Coppersmith. Mrs. Hopkins was the wife of William Lindsey Hopkins of the home.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Hopkins is survived by two daughters, Sandra H. Evans of Murfreesboro and Joyce H. Dollar of Ahoskie; three granddaughters, Deda Evans Williford of Ahoskie, Stacy D. Evans of Charlotte and J. Blair Dollar of Greenville; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Williford and Chip Wiliford, both of Ahoskie.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Ahoskie United Methodist Church by Dr. Kenneth Hall. The family suggests that memorials may be made to Ahoskie United Methodist Church, Ridgecroft School or the Ahoskie Rescue Squad. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Tidewater Office, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
