COSMO V. PENGITORE

Cosmo V. Pengitore, 86, of the 2100 block of Refuge Court, died May 9, 1997.

He and his wife, Mrs. Anna Maslanka Pengitore, were former residents of West Orange, N.J. He was a native of Orange, N.J., where he was a member of Our Lady of the Valley and an usher of the church for 56 years. He was a member of Church of the Holy Family, Virginia Beach, Knights of Columbus, U.S. Power Squadrons and Holy Name Society. He retired as a district manager for General Electric.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Francis C. Pengitore, and his wife, Diana, of Virginia Beach; granddaughter, Jocelyn Pengitore; two sisters-in-law, Frances Pengitore of Northampton, Pa., Mary Pengitore of Seaside Park, N.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Uncle Phentonate Tonache was appointed by President Franklin Roosevelt, his purpose was to serve as medical advisor to local selective boards, the duty regarding physical and mental conditions of the registrants. Nephew George Pengitore was a waist gunner on the flying fortress Miss Maywood and made 100 missions over Italy, Germany and Poland, losing only one man on all the flights.

The body was sent to Codey Funeral Service, Orange, for services and burial. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
