CRIME LINE

Virginia Beach

On April 15, the First Coastal Bank branch in the 3000 block of Shore Drive was robbed.

A man walked into the bank at 1:48 p.m., approached the teller window, implied he had a gun and demanded money. After he got the money, he ran from the bank. A picture was taken during the robbery.

The robber is described as black, in his early 20s, 6 feet tall with a thin build and short black hair. He was wearing all-black clothing and had amber sunglasses.

Portsmouth

On Jan. 19, about 12:30 a.m., the Burger King restaurant in the 3500 block of Airline Blvd. was robbed.

A man with a gun entered the restaurant and demanded money. He had the employees lie on the floor and had one put all the money into a blue back pack. The robber then fled through the rear door.

Investigators believe he may have gotten away in a white Isuzu pickup that was parked behind the business.

The man is described as black, 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 220 pounds. He was wearing a plaid shirt, blue jeans, a dark jacket and a royal-blue ski mask.

Chesapeake

On May 5, at 11:25 p.m., two men robbed and tried to kill a man in his home in the 5000 block of Belton Road.

The two men knocked on the victim's door; when he opened it, they forced him back into the apartment at gunpoint. He was gagged and tied up with a telephone cord.

Cash, a credit card and a color television were taken. Before leaving, the suspects also set the bedroom on fire.

The victim freed himself before he could be injured by the fire.

The suspects also stole the victim's pickup, which was later recovered.

The suspects are described as black and in their 20s. One called the other by the name Black.

Hampton

On Feb. 16, about 2:30 p.m., the Bay Savings Bank in the 200 block of Fox Hill Road was robbed.

A man entered the store, implied he had a gun and demanded money from the teller. After taking the money, the suspect left the bank and ran toward the Willow Oaks Shopping Center.

A surveillance camera took photographs of the suspect. He is described as black, 25, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, with a neat beard and short black hair. He was wearing a black sport coat and dark pants. Witnesses said he had a very neat appearance. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
