SEBRELL JOINS BANK OF SUFFOLK: John G. Sebrell, former president of Old Point National Bank in Hampton, has joined Bank of Suffolk as its president and chief executive officer. Before moving to Old Point National, Sebrell had been a senior vice president and senior credit policy officer at NationsBank. Bank of Suffolk is a unit of James River Bankshares Inc. Also, G.P. Jackson, a founding director of the Suffolk-based holding company James River Bankshares Inc., has been elected chairman of its board of directors. Jackson is also chairman and a founding director of James River's Bank of Suffolk subsidiary.

COMMERCE CENTER OPENS: The James River Commerce Center, a 220-acre light industrial park, opened Monday. It is jointly planned, developed and marketed by the Industrial Development Authority for James City County and Williamsburg Developments Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. The public-private partnership is the first industrial park venture for both organizations.

PUBLIC RELATIONS FIRM CHANGES NAME AND BUSINESS FOCUS: Nina Seabright and Associates has changed its name and business focus to Nina Zapala public relations and cause marketing. Cause marketing is a socially conscious marketing strategy that builds revenue for a business through a cause.
HAISLIP APPOINTED ADVISORY DIRECTOR FOR BANK: Douglas L. Haislip, president of Virginia Drywall, was appointed advisory director at the Bank of Tidewater's Independence office. He is also managing partner of HWH Enterprises and Horizons Enterprises of Virginia Beach.
LILLIAN VERNON TRUCKS BEDDING TO FLOOD VICTIMS: Employees at the Lillian Vernon National Distribution Center loaded a Red Cross truck with hundreds of new sheets, pillows and towels for donation to flood victims in North Dakota and Minnesota. The shipment will begin to arrive this week.

HESPENHIDE PROMOTED AT DAILY PRESS: Melissa Trevallion Hespenhide, previously public-relations manager for the Daily Press, was promoted to marketing manager for the newspaper as part of a consolidation of the newspaper's promotional, public relations and research operations.
