Gregorio F. Salafranca Jr., 59, died May 13, 1997.

A cook retired from the U.S. Navy, he was a native of Cavite, the Philippines, and a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Virginia Beach. He was a member of Filipiniana and also the Cavite Association.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy N. Salafranca; daughter, Mina N. Salafranca of Virginia Beach; son, Gaius N. Salafranca and wife, Susan A., of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Guia Salafranca, Gilda Salafranca and Cora Rivera and her husband, George, all of the Philippines; grandson, Nicolas Matthew Salafranca; uncle, Joes Parales of the Philippines; niece, Josefina Parales and her husband, Roberto, and their daughter, Jacinda.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, by Fr. Paschal Kneip, OSB. The family will receive friends in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m. A wake service will be held there Friday, May 16, 1997, at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, Va. 23507 or the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513.
