RICHARD M. EARNEST

Richard M. Earnest, 54, of the 1200 block of Maplewood Ave., died May 14, 1997, in his residence.

A native of Norfolk, he was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus (NU)3548 for 10 years, president of the Columbian Club for five years and a Local (NU)110 plumber and pipefitter for 31 years. He had worked with Honeywell Corp. from 1970-1986 and was an HVAC mechanic for Johnson Controls from 1986-1997. Richard was very active in community projects, loved people and is loved by many.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Miller Earnest; two daughters, Kimberly E. Hungerman and her husband, Anthony of Norfolk, Tracy L. Earnest of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; two stepsons, Brian D. Easter of Travis Air Force Base, Calif., Kevin M. Easter Sr. and his wife, Amy, of Norfolk; a sister, Patricia Earnest Alexander and her husband, Donald, of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Bret Hemingway, Reagan Hemingway, Ashley Easter and Kevin Easter Jr.; a sister-in-law, Kay Earnest of Norfolk; numerous nieces and nephews; and a loving companion, Gina Nardoianni.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Saturday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church by Fr. Arthur J. Conrad and Fr. Lou Ruoff. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 6 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity School.
