DOROTHY M. ANDERSON

Dorothy Marie Anderson, 62, died May 14, 1997.

A native of Gates, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Dorothy Mae and Grafton Boone Sr. and the widow of Booker T. Anderson. Mrs. Anderson was a pillar in her community and a community activist for many years.

Survivors include her sons, Luther Williams of Richmond, Anthony W. Anderson, his wife, Jane, of Portsmouth; her sisters, Tessa Plummer, Peggy J. Williams, Nita Norfleet, all of Suffolk; three brothers, Grafton Boone Jr., Johnny Boone, both of Suffolk, Shirley Boone of Hempstead, N.Y.; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy P. Boone of Gates, N.C., Jeanette Boone, Mary Boone, both of Suffolk, Erma R. Boone of Hempstead; four grandchildren, Douglas Ray Williams, Ian Anderson, Kyle Anderson, Danielle Anderson and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Canaan Baptist Church by the Revs. Jessie Arrington and Milton Williams Jr. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends in her home, 1840 Nansemond Parkway, and flowers will be received at the funeral home. R.W. Baker and Company Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
