Mildred Staylor Simpson, 88, of the 7000 block of Suburban Arch died May 16, 1997, in her residence.
An employee of the Aluminum Awning Co. of Norfolk, she was a Norfolk native and the widow of Roland I. Simpson Sr. She was a past president of Credit Women's International from 1975-76. She was past president of the Doll Club of Norfolk and had her real estate license in Virginia. She was also a licensed beautician in Norfolk as well as aboard a cruise ship.
Survivors include his daughter, Mildred ``Kitty'' Edney of Palm City, Fla.; two sons, Edward Swann of Deer Park, Texas, and Roland I. Simpson Jr. of Norfolk; sister, Helen McCabe of Norfolk; seven grandchildren, Eddie, Shonita, Scott, Keitha, Carol, Brian and Russell; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late Claude and Emma Staylor and was predeceased by a grandson, Galen Edney Jr.; brothers, Claude Staylor, who was a former police chief and city councilman in Norfolk, and John (Jack) Staylor, who was the owner of Staylor Oil, Norfolk.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. William Amon. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 4 to 6 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
