Hoke Smith Roberson Jr., 53, of the 100 block of N. Granville St., died Sunday, May 18, 1997, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.
A native of Martin County, Mr. Roberson was the son of Hoke Smith Roberson and Eleanor Shelton Roberson of Windsor, N.C., and the husband and best friend of Nancy Gifford Roberson.
Mr. Roberson was manager of R & W Chevrolet in Windsor, N.C., and a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He had served as president of the Edenton Rotary Club and on the board of directors of C.O.A. He sponsored and coached his sons and the Hoke Motor's Babe Ruth Baseball Team from 1981 until 1987.
Surviving other than his parents and wife are two sons, Hoke Smith Roberson III, and his wife, Cathy Woods Roberson, of Raleigh and Gifford Blake Roberson of Raleigh; his brother, Joe S. Roberson of Windsor; and his sister, Deborah Roberson Christopher of Beaufort, N.C.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church by the Rev. Jack Rivers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bertie or Chowan County Rescue Squads, or to one's favorite charity. Evans Funeral Home is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
