OFFICER, 3 OTHERS HURT IN 2-VEHICLE ACCIDENT

Four people, including a police officer responding on a call, were injured early Sunday when, police said, the driver of a car failed to obey a yield sign and drove into the path of the police vehicle.

The accident happened at 12:37 a.m. at Silina and Dillon drives, police said, in the Princess Anne section.

Master Police Officer Dennis Dorshimer was responding to a non-priority call, without use of emergency lights or siren. ``He was not exceeding the speed limit or rushing to get to a location,'' said Lou Thurston, a police spokesman.

Dorshimer, a K9 officer who had his dog with him, was driving west on Silina.

``When he approached the intersection, he was struck by a 1991 Oldsmobile which did not yield at a yield sign,'' Thurston said. The police vehicle left the road and ended up in a yard.

Dorshimer was taken to the trauma center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

A heavy-duty rescue crew was required to extricate the people from the Oldsmobile.

The driver, whom police identified as Stephanie A. Woolet, 25, of the 100 block of Palm Beach Place, was listed in fair condition Sunday night in the trauma unit at Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Danyelle J. Nimmo, 26, of the 600 block of Aubrey Drive, also was listed in fair condition at Virginia Beach General.

John J. Evans, 32, of the 7400 block of Kenmore Drive in Norfolk, was taken to the trauma center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Sunday night.

Thurston said Dorshimer's dog was not hurt.

Dorshimer was wearing a seat belt, Thurston said, no one in the Oldsmobile was. He also said alcohol was a factor in the accident.

No charges had been filed late Sunday. The case is to be reviewed by the commonwealth's attorney today, Thurston said. KEYWORDS: ACCIDENT TRAFFIC INJURIES POLICE CAR
