Mabel Seward Savedge of Suffolk died May 19, 1997.
A native of Surry County, she was a daughter of the late George and Lelia Seward and the widow of Henry Scott Savedge. Mrs. Savedge was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, a devoted Sunday School teacher until her death and a member of the Annette Hall Missionary Church. She completed studies at State Teachers College, Farmville, and taught school in Hopewell until her marriage in 1930.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Ann S. and Robert L. Herring of Suffolk; a son and his wife, Henry S. Jr. and Anne G. Savedge of Richmond; five grandchildren, J. Scott and H. Kent Savedge, Leigh Ann H. Creson, Sarah Evelyn Savedge and Jill H. Queen.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church, N. Main St., by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson with burial at Moore's Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Elberon. The family will receive friends in R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
