JOHN E. NEARY

John Emmett Neary, 21, of the 600 block of the Lord Dunmore Drive, died May 19, 1997, in a local hospital.

John was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Norfolk Catholic High School and a graduate of St. Gregory the Great School. John was currently attending Tidewater Community College. He was an avid soccer player and surfer with many awards.

John will be remembered by his family and friends for his outstanding leadership, joyfulness and will be deeply missed by all.

John is survived by his parents, U.S. Navy Retired Cmdr. Joseph F. Neary and Mary Allen Crutcher Neary of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Michael J. Neary and his wife, Abbie, of Virginia Beach, James A. Neary and his wife, Karen, of Chesapeake, Joseph C. Neary of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Katheryn A. Neary Charalambous and her husband, Bambos, of Virginia Beach, Karen M. Neary Davis and her husband, John, of Norfolk; four nephews, Jeremy Davis and Allen, Jeffery and Ross Neary; four nieces, Alec, Rebecca and Anna Charalambous and Ashley Neary.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday with a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. in Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church by Fr. Luke Policicchio, O.S.B. Interment will follow in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities of Hampton Roads, Children's Program. Following the service friends are invited to the house at 657 Lord Dunmore Drive. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
