BUXTON WOODS PRESERVE DEDICATION

Roger Schecter, director of the N.C. Division of Coastal Management,

and Carol Anderson, of the Friends of Buxton Woods, prepare to cut a

ribbon at the dedication of the Buxton Woods Coastal Preserve on

Hatteras Island on Monday. The 826-acre tract is the largest

remaining tract of maritime forest on the East Coast, Schecter said.

The Buxton Woods site is the eighth in the state's Coastal Reserve

Program.
