Gladys E. Nixon of the 800 block of Almond Ave. died May 18, 1997, in a local hospital.
A retired employee of the ODU Food Services Department, she was a Norfolk native and a member of Garden of Prayer No. 3.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Nixon; three daughters, Yvonne Tatem of Norfolk and Deborah Hill of Chesapeake and Dana Lloyd of Alexandria, Va.; four sons, Joseph Dixon of Norfolk, retired Lt. Col. Jerome Nixon and Walter Nixon of Chesapeake and the Rev. Dwight Nixon of Portsmouth; sister, Christine Reynolds of Newark, N.J.; brother, Memford Jones of Norfolk; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; four daughters-in-law, Cynthia Nixon, Audrey Nixon, Carolyn Nixon and Brenda Nixon; two sons-in-law, Roy Tatem and Dr. Fred Hill; sister-in-law, Eliza Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Garden of Prayer No. 3 by the Rev. William D. White. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Friends may join the family at the residence. There will be a wake service from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Graves Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
