A WINNING TENNIS TEAM

Maury's Rob Brown, at left, and Ross Hoffman, at right, led the way

for the Commodores last week as they wrapped up their fourth Eastern

Region tennis title in the last five years. Brown, also the Eastern

District singles champion, is 17-1 at No. 2 singles and undefeated

in the region. He has an all-around game and often looks acrobatic

chasing down every loose ball. Hoffman, his doubles partner and the

district runner-up, went 14-4 at No. 1 singles. A consistent player

with powerful groundstrokes, Hoffman outthinks his opponents. He has

already been accepted at Virginia.
