Arnold Ira Millard Sr., 83, of Gee St., died May 20, 1997, in a local hospital.
A native of Wayne County, N.C., he was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a machinist for Shop 38 with 26 years service. He was a Protestant and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Lee Millard; a daughter, Joann Overton of Portsmouth; four sons, Dewey Thomas Millard of Alexandria, La., Arnold I. Millard Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Ronnie Neal Millard of Chesapeake, Terry Wayne Millard of Portsmouth; two sisters, Pearl Edwards of Goldsboro, N.C., Louise Gregory of Mount Olive, N.C.; two brothers, Clarence Millard of Goldsboro, N.C. and Elbert Millard of Princeton, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Ted Bashford in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens with military honors. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
