Mrs. Peggy Chappell Strickland, 67, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997, at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Mrs. Strickland was a member of Rich Square Baptist Church and a retired supervisor for Mylecraft Manufacturing.
Mrs. Strickland is survived by her husband, C. Wingate Strickland Sr; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. Strickland Jr. and his wife, Susie, of Rich Square; her daughter, Cindy Strickland of Roanoke Rapids; four grandchildren, Airman 1st Class C. Robert Powell of Hampton, Michael Powell of Roanoke Rapids and Allison and Ashleigh Strickland of Rich Square; three sisters, Sara Elizabeth Futrell, Jessie Herman Johnson, both of Rich Square, and Mary Lou Faircloth of Wilmington, N.C.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Rich Square Baptist Church by the Rev. Bob Rogers and the Rev. Chuck Plowman. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Rich Square. The family will receive friends at Jackson Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and other times at the home on Highway (NU)305, Rich Square.
