Aubrey Clarence Dunnavant, 88, of the 3600 block of South St., died May 20, 1997, in a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth and had retired from the City of Portsmouth Fire Department and the Virginia State Taxation Dept. He was a member of Port Norfolk Baptist Church and past president of the Retired Police and Fire Dept. Association. He was also an Elk and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. Mr. Dunnavant was the widower of Della M. Dunnavant.
Survivors include his daughter, Ann D. Orenduff of Chesapeake; a son, William ``Rusty'' Dunnavant of Wake Forest, N.C.; a sister, Rosa Mae Hack of Orange Park, Fla.; a brother, Arthur Dunnavant of Orange Park; five grandchildren, Timothy and Chad Dunnavant, Audrey Hatchell, Michael and Jason Orenduff; three great-grandchildren, Mason Hatchell, Christian Dunnavant and Ashton Mae Hatchell.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by Dr. Charles Peterson. The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
