Irene F. Cohen, 88, died May 25, 1997, at her home.

Mrs. Cohen was a native of Philadelphia and was the widow of Taft Cohen, her husband of 64 years. Before moving to Norfolk 15 years ago, she and her husband were active members in the Waynesboro, Va., community, working in the furniture industry. She was a member of B'Nai Brith Women and Hadassah.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara ``Bobby'' Cohen Friedman and her husband, Harold ``Boodie,'' of Norfolk; her sister, Bert Balfour of Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Alan Friedman, Dr. Darryl Lefcoe, Lynne and Allan Weiman, Penny Friedman, Debbie Abbott; her great-grandchildren, J.D. and Lee Weiman, Allison Friedman and Ross Abbott; and her nephew, Dr. Robert Balfour of Seattle.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Rabbi Michael E. Panitz and Cantor Yael Fischman. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Jewish Family Services. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
