Mrs. Orlean Rollings Hargrave, 73, a resident of Dendron, passed away Saturday, May 24, 1997, at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk.
A native of Surry County, she was daughter of the late Mills Leslie and Ida Collier Rollings. At the time of her death, she was clerk for the town of Dendron. She retired in 1989 after 22 years of service as a teller and secretary for the Bank of Sussex-Surry, Wakefield. A member of Dendron Baptist Church, she served as music director, treasurer and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the ``Rusty Needles'' and served as treasurer of the Dendron Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter (NU)172, Waverly. A talented musician, she was one of the original members of the Rollings Family Singers. She was sister of the late Cecil, Marion, Melvin and Norman Rollings.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph H. Hargrave; a daughter, Anita H. Curl and her husband, R. Edward, of Dendron; a son, J. Dwight Hargrave and his wife, Kathryn C., of Midlothian; five grandchildren, Brandee Curl, Chrystal Curl, Mary Sanders and her husband, William, Shannon Hargrave and Rand Hargrave; a great-granddaughter, Kaeleigh Hargrave; and sisters-in-law, Carol Rollings of Surry, Clarice Rollings, Martha Rollings, both of Dendron and Lois Barrett of Wakefield.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. Raymond Rowland, the Rev. Wendell Sodergren and the Rev. Edward Griffin. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence in Dendron. Memorial donations may be made to Dendron Baptist Church, Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad or Dendron Volunteer Fire Dept. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
