Kenneth Best Barnes Sr., 62, of the 1300 block of Canal Drive died May 26, 1997, in a Portsmouth hospital.
A retired sheetmetal mechanic for the NorfolK Naval Shipyard, he was a native of Wilson, N.C., and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth B. Barnes Jr. of Chesapeake and Bryan K. Barnes of Chesapeake; sister, Minnie Mae Barnes of Wilson, N.C.; three brothers, J.D. Barnes of Lucama, N.C., Louis Samuel Barnes and Wade Lee Barnes, both of Wilson.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. Monetary donations may be made to the sons in lieu of flowers. Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
