Gertie Jarrett Wood, 84, of the 3400 block of Broadway St., died Monday June 2, 1997, in a Portsmouth hospital.

She was a homemaker and a native of Lawrenceville, Va. She also was a member of West Norfolk Baptist Church.

Mrs. Wood was the widow of Edward M. Wood Sr. She is survived by two sons, Edward M. Wood Jr. and Linwood Ray Wood, both of Portsmouth; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, by the Rev. Andrew Barton. Interment will follow in Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
