CARMELA B. CAMPAGNA

Carmela Bottino Campagna, 96, of the 600 block of Bishop Drive, died June 1, 1997, in Virginia Beach.

She was born in New York City and was the widow of Frank Carciopolo. She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and its Senior Citizens Club and Bow Creek Recreational Center. She was a retired seamstress and sewed clothes for her whole family. She was very proud to have worked in her younger years in her father's garage as a blacksmith and bookkeeper. She was a second mother to her brothers and sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Catherine Bozza of Virginia Beach, Rosalie Giannetto of Bronxville, N.Y., and Theresa Backensto of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Vera Martucci of Bronx, N.Y.; two brothers, Alexander Bottino of Sommersville, N.Y. and Ralph Bottino of Bronx; five grandchildren, Mary Lynn Peck, Frank Joseph Bozza, Anthony Bozza, Marisa Giannetto, John Backensto; and five great-grandchildren, Anthony Francis Peck, Maryanne Elise Peck, Kristen Nicole Bozza, Nicholas Joseph Bozza and Stephen Dumond.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church by Fr. Philip Ghys, O.S.B. Entombment will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, where the family will receive friends until 9 p.m. ILLUSTRATION: Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
