Isadore Norman Lawrence, 77, of the 4200 block of Spruce Knob Road, died Sunday June 1, 1997, after a long illness, then cancer, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
A native of Virginia Beach, Mr. Lawrence was a retired owner of Lawrence Accounting Service for 40 years. Mr. Lawrence graduated with an accounting degree from the Norfolk Division of The College of William and Mary. He was a member of the Khedive Temple for more than 40 years, Va. Beach Masonic Lodge 274, a 32nd Degree Mason, and was the first to ever receive The Outstanding Shriner of the Year Award. He was a member of First Colonial Baptist Church. Mr. Lawrence was the son of the late George and Margaret Whitehead Lawrence, and was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Hope Lawrence.
Survivors include a son, Stephen and his wife, Karen Lawrence of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Peggy and her husband, Chuck Harrison, Susan and her husband, Don Gates; a brother, Gilbert and his wife, Doris Lawrence; a sister-in-law, Marian Martell, all of Virginia Beach; a niece, Cecie Cox of Detroit, Mich.; a nephew, William Martell of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Neiger, Erin Lawrence, Ginny Austin, Ernie Austin, Justin Clark, Laura Clark, Don Gates Jr., Nathan Harrison, Timmy Harrison; two great-granddaughters, Kelsey Neiger and Kaitlin Neiger.
A chapel service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel, by the Rev. Chuck Harrison. Interment will follow at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery .
