HAROLD D. HAMRICK

Retired Master Chief Petty Officer Harold Douglas Hamrick, 78, died June 3, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and now rests in eternal peace.

Mr. Hamrick was born in Nashville on April 27, 1919. He was a member of Talbot Park Baptist Church and a member of the Fleet Reserve and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4809, as well as a veteran of World War II.

He was the son of the late John and Wilhemena Hamrick. He is survived by his wife, Marie Wilson Hamrick of Norfolk; and his brother, Raymond Hamrick of Franklin, Tenn. Mr. Hamrick is also survived by his two children, Beatrice Gulick of Virginia Beach and John Hamrick, M.D., of Williamsburg; three stepchildren, Paul Breaux of Hillsboro, Diana Suddeth of Portsmouth and Beverly Breaux of Newport News. Survivors include two grandchildren, Jackie and David Hamrick; seven stepgrandchildren, Allison, Jennifer and Maddie Breaux, Troy and Richie Justice and Shawn and Dustin Gibson. Other relatives include his niece, Billy Sue Hamrick, and numerous cousins in Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Anne Virginia Hamrick.

The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday with burial held at Forest Lawn Cemetery immediately following the service. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
