JURY STILL DELIBERATING IN TEEN'S SLAYING TRIAL

The jury deliberating the fate of Zackary Anthony Carter, 15, was unable to reach a verdict Tuesday in his first-degree murder trial. The panel, which deliberated for about seven hours Tuesday, will reconvene today.

``I don't think we are that close, but we're not deadlocked either,'' one of the jurors told Circuit Court Judge Frederick B. Lowe before Lowe sent the jury home for the day.

Carter is charged in the Sept. 10 murder of his half sister, Cierra Rose Carter. He was 14 at the time. If the jurors believe Carter is guilty, they could convict him of first-degree murder, second-degree murder or involuntary manslaughter.
