WILLIAM O. HOWERIN

William Ottis Howerin, 87, of the 1100 block of Olive Road, died June 7, 1997, in his residence.

Mr. Howerin was born in South Creek, N.C., and had retired from Curtis Bay Towing Co. after 33 years. He attended Calvary Assembly of God and was a member of Seafarers International Union of North America.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Carrow Howerin; a daughter and her husband, Louise and Ruben ``Ed'' Sawyer of Manteo, N.C.; two sisters, Lola Sanderson of Greenville, N.C. and Esther Bors of Dover, Del.; a brother, James Samuel Howerin of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two grandchildren, Dorothy VanDynne of Alexandria and Philip Lee Sawyer of Manns Harbor, N.C.; and a great-grandchild, Jason Lee Sawyer of Manns Harbor. He was predeceased by his parents, Jennie Clark Howerin and Jesse Robert Howerin.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Dan Goff. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the residence. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
