JOSEPHINE Y. ELLEN

Josephine Yokley Ellen, 78, died June 9, 1997.

Born in Rocky Mount, N.C., she was the widow of retired U.S. Air Force Col. C.J. Ellen and was a member of Freemason Street Baptist Church, Norfolk. In the early years of her life she worked for many years at the Mellon Bank, Pittsburgh. She was a member of National Society for the Daughters of the American Revolution and the U.S. Air Force Officers' Wives Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Priscilla A. Ahrens and her husband, Steve Ahrens of Wylie, Texas; a son, William Bruce Ellen and his wife, Bonnie S. Ellen of Mathews, Va.; two sisters, Mary Virginia Leslie of Pittsburgh, Sarah Vann Stoll of Potomac, Md.; and two grandchildren.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday, June 16, in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday to receive friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.
