EDWIN H. JELLEY

Edwin H. Jelley, 71, of the 4800 block of Lonewillow Lane, died June 11, 1997, in his residence.

A retired U.S. Navy sailor, he was also retired from the Safety Center, NAS. He was a native of East Rockaway, Long Island, N.Y., and a member of Congregational Church. During World War II, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and six Air Medals. He also was an avid bowler at the Amphibious Base.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine R. Jelley; daughter, Ellen M. Jelley of Virginia Beach; three sons, John H. Jelley, Douglas B. Jelley and Gregory L. Jelley, all of Virginia Beach.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Little Creek Base Chapel, Virginia Beach, by Chaplain Rothermel. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sentara Home Care and Hospice Services, 8 Koger Executive Center, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
