ADA G. HARPER

Ada G. Harper, 87, the widow of Joseph N. Harper Sr., died in Jacksonville, Fla., on Thursday, June 12, 1997.

A native and former resident of South Norfolk, she also resided in Charlottesville prior to moving to Jacksonville in 1995. She was associated with the South Norfolk and Albemarle County School Systems. She was a charter member of the Willie Lee Pythian Lodge, South Norfolk, and was a 25-year member of the Charlottesville Rebekah Lodge, serving in all chairs in both orders.

She was a longtime member of the Charlottesville/Albemarle County Rescue Squad Auxiliary and she attended the South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph N. Harper Jr. (Betty) of Albuquerque, N.M., and Donald G. ``Duck'' Harper (Ann) of Stanardsville, Va.; her daughter, Ruby H. Spence (Carlton) of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Magnolia Cemetery, Norfolk, by the Rev. Philip Peacock. The Rebekah Lodge will participate in services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charlottesville-Albemarle County Rescue Squad, 828 McIntyre Road, Charlottesville, Va. 22902, or to Hospice of N.E. Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Fla. 32257. Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
