MARGARET I. WALDO

Margaret Irving Waldo, 87, a lifelong resident of Churchland, died June 12, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.

A Portsmouth native, she was the widow of Robert H. ``Speedy'' Waldo, a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Portsmouth, and of the Episcopal Church Women.

Mrs. Waldo was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and The College of William and Mary. She recently attended her 60th college reunion, which coincided with the celebration of the college's 300th anniversary. She was an avid golfer and bridge player.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret W. Fera of Leesburg, Va., and Anne Barbour W. Schwab of Portsmouth; son, Robert H. Waldo Jr. of Suffolk; seven grandchildren, Michael Michael Fera, Shaun Margaret Fera, Julia L. Fera, Susan Barbour Weatherford, Lawrence York Schwab Jr., Robert H. Waldo III and Brett A. Waldo.

A funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in St. John's Episcopal Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Brian C. Hobden. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Following a committal service, the family will be at 4600 Duke Drive, Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. John's Episcopal Church, the Waldo family lecture series at O.D.U. or the American Cancer Society.
