Joseph Van Booker, 106, of the 2700 block of Nansemond Crescent died June 13, 1997, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.
A retired employee of the Department of Public Welfare for the City of New Rochelle, N.Y., for more than 35 years, he was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses congregation in New Rochelle.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Brooks of Mount Vernon, N.Y., Martha B. Lancaster of Chesapeake and Lois Haley of New Rochelle; four sons, Gilbert Booker of Suffolk, George Booker of Philadelphia, Richard Booker of Mount Vernon and William Booker of White Plains, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; a nephew and three nieces.
Arrangements are pending in New Rochelle. The body will be shipped from Fisher Funeral Home, Portsmouth, to McClanahan Funeral Home, New Rochelle. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
