Got a yen to spend some long, lazy festival days at Town Point Park? Then you'd best head to Bayou Boogaloo this weekend, since it's the last of the big parties at the park until fall.
Since many of the traditional July and August festivals rained out in the past few years, the folks at Festevents switched the major festivals to early summer and early fall. Reggae on the River, which used to be held in mid-summer, will be Sept. 12 and 13, and Town Point Jazz and Blues Festival moved from August to May. The TGIF gatherings will be held at Harbor Park (before ball games, starting July 11). This makes way for the city to re-sod the park next month.
There are a couple other Town Point events this summer: a concert with The Band (June 27), the Great American Picnic & All-American Car Classic (July 4) and the Summer Breeze Jazz Concert (July 5).
For info, call Festevents at 441-2345.
