The Rev. James Washington of Sycamore St. died Sunday, June 15, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital, Portsmouth.
Born in Ahoskie, N.C. he was a minister and a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Norfolk. He was active in civic, charitable and fraternal societies. He was also pastor of the New Sixth Street Baptist Church, Suffolk.
He is survived by his wife, Emily Wellons Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in New Sixth Street Baptist Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. I. Joseph Williams. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie. A wake will be at Antioch Baptist Church, Norfolk, from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Reynolds Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
