HUGH K. HOLLAND

Hugh Kellie ``Pete'' Holland, 63, of the 1400 block of Porterfield Lane died June 18, 1997, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.

A retired press operator at Planter's/Lifesavers, he worked there 37 years. He was a native of Nansemond County and a member of Somerton Friends Meeting. He was a choir member and served as Sunday School superintendent for 40 years. He was a member of the Suffolk Auxiliary Police for 11 years, secretary and treasurer of Local Union No. 26 U.A.W. for 11 years.

He was the son of the late Hugh K. Holland and Annie Ferguson Holland.

Survivors include his wife, Mary D. Holland; three daughters, Mary Ann H. Price of Chesapeake, Iris H. Carter and Tina M. Holland, both of Suffolk; four grandchildren, Daniel James ``D.J.'' Carter, Samuel F. Carter, Daphne L. Carter, all of Suffolk, and David Kevin Price Jr. of Chesapeake; three sisters, Margaret H. Smith of Raleigh, N.C., and Annie O. Holland of Suffolk and Evelyn H. Jones of Bulls Head, Ariz.; three brothers, Jasper L. Holland of Brandon, Fla., W. Horace Holland of Suffolk and Edward J. Holland of Suffolk.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, by Hershel M. Hill. Burial will be in Somerton Friends Meeting Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home, Suffolk, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times in the residence.
