A teen suspected of robbing a Camden man has been arrested in connection with a murder in Newport News, a Camden County deputy says.
Kermit Shelton Spence, 18, of Newport News turned himself in to Newport News police early Wednesday. Police charged Spence with fatally shooting a 34-year-old Hampton man in Newport News at 10:25 p.m. June 13.
Spence is also one of three suspects in the armed robbery of Charles Hodges of Camden at 8:45 p.m. June 14, according to Camden County Chief Deputy Tony Perry.
Hodges owns Charlie's Country Corner on U.S. 158 in Camden.
Norman Randolph Dove Jr., 17, of Newport News, was also arrested late Wednesday in connection with the Camden robbery. Dove was brought to the Albemarle District Jail in Elizabeth City early Thursday by Camden County deputies.
A third suspect is still at large.
According to Perry, the suspects followed Hodges home last Saturday night after he had closed his small grocery for the day. The suspects allegedly pointed a large-caliber pistol at Hodges and demanded money.
Hodges did not have money on him but gave the suspects a .38 caliber pistol he had in the car, Perry said. KEYWORDS: ROBBERY ARREST MURDER JUVENILE NORTH CAROLINA
