CITY COUNCIL ACTIONS - SUFFOLK

The City Council took the following actions during its meeting June 18 in council chambers at Suffolk City Hall, 441 Market St. The Council meets in public session the first and third Wednesday of each month. The sessions are telecast live at 7 p.m. on Municipal Channel 8 on Falcon Cable and repeated at 2:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

Approval of minutes of June 4 meeting Approved 7-0

Amend city code to adopt by reference the provisions and requirements of certain motor vehicle and traffic laws of the Commonwealth Approved 7-0

Amend the city code to incorporate changes to the Code of Virginia effective July 1 Approved 7-0

Authorize a letter of intent between the City and United Church Retirement Homes Inc. Approved 7-0

Request the Virginia Department of Transportation to include Cherry Blossom Drive, Maple Leaf Crescent, Pine Tree Way, Pine Tree Court, and Red Oak Lane, in the Cedar Lake Shores Subdivision into the State Secondary Road System Approved 7-0

A resolution of support for Home-A-Rama 1998 being held in Suffolk at the Nansemond Pointe Subdivision Approved 7-0

Consider rezoning request RR5-97 (Conditional) for from Office Institutional (OI) to Medium-High Density Residential (R-6) (Conditional) Approved 7-0

Consider rezoning request RR-6-97 for approximately 1.16 acres from B-2, General Business to R-2, Low-Medium Residential at 4816 Mineral Spring Road Approved 7-0

Consider Conditional Use Permit request C3-97 for a 250-foot, self-supporting tower and equipment for wireless communications Approved 7-0

Consider Conditional Use Permit request C4-97 for the expansion of Wilroy Baptist Church at 306 Williams Road Approved 7-0

Consider Conditional Use Permit request C5-97 for construction of a 280-unitm multi-family dwelling project and day care center Approved 7-0
